Carrier Drive Fire - Toronto

Blog and Journal

While looking through some of my photos, I found this amazing photo. Sometimes I surprise myself, really... This was a plastics factory on Carrier Drive, in Toronto which caught fire in late 2005 if I recall. It became fully engulfed and went to a 3 Alarm fire. I forget the name of the factory, but the google map shows it here. (In case Google updates their imagery, I have saved the photo here). I was located in the parking lot on Humber College Blvd when I took the above shot. I had to zoom in quite a ways. You can see the top of the bus shelter in the photo, located at the corner of Humber College and Carrier Drive. I think I really captured the essence of these fire fighters in action in this photo. I also used this photo to prove that yes... Buildings constructed of steel do melt and collapse. Those who say they don't obviously do not know much about physics and chemestry. Here is another photo from that event. I was able to get this close because I was part of the media. As good excuse as any to get close to the action. You can see those white piles of material in the google image I linked above. This was taken from the East side in the parking lot off of Woodbine Downs Blvd.
