Fischer

Blog and Journal Hobbies

Welcome to a bit of a rabbit hole. I was recently told of an estate sale in the Buffalo area. A prominent attorney, Daniel Tronolone, had passed, and in his estate was the remains of the House of Fischer pipe collection. He had acquired this collection because Art Fischer was a close personal friend of Daniel Tronolone, and knowing the attourney was an avid pipe enthusist, Art had willed the remaining pipe stock to Daniel in his passing. This is the backstory I had heard through word of mouth. Read more

Urban Exploration

Urban Exploration

Urban Exploration. A popular and sensationalized trend on YouTube or Instagram these days. All over the world people are getting into places they shouldn't be, and documenting their deeds for all to see. Heck, I watched a recent video of some guys who climbed a crane, and actually free climbed out to the cranes hook. Gosh... No thank you. But there isn't much I can really say. I too was an Urban Explorer back in my younger years. At the time I thought my lifestyle would lead to my loss of life before I was 35. I knew it was dangerous. That being said I never did anything like that. Read more

Mix

Radio

Here I am searching ebay for used audio gear, to feed my often unspoken desire to produce or play around with various musical synths and trance gear. Oogling at items like a Roland MC-303, or a TASCAM 122 MkIII, or even a Studer A810 reel to reel. Some of these items I even owned before I moved to the states! Sadly they were essentially given away by my dad when I moved out. But now I look back and wish I still had them. They are worth so much now, and heck I had a nice setup when I was a teenager. Lord of the Flies

Thoughts and Politics

Recent news has been quite sad. For one, the blatant racial murder of Iryna Zarutska. And secondly, the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I'll touch on both topics in this post. Read more

Pipes vs Cigars

Blog and Journal

I had my first cigar when I was 18. It was a Cugan cigar, which wasn't uncommon to find up in Canada. I remember sitting on the deck with my Mother and Father joining me for my first cigar experience. It was special in that manner. A form of bonding - a right of passage maybe. The cigar it's self, likely made me feel a little woozy. But I do recall having a little more fun, by lighting off an ammo box full of black powder in the backyard that evening. The fireball was immense! But alas, nothing bad happened. Read more

Wendy's Nightmare

Blog and Journal Thoughts and Politics

We all hear stories of fast food places, and horrible things that happen with people's food. Well, it finally happened to me. Today I purchased a meal from a local-ish Wendy's because my son said he wanted a wendy's burger. Now, fast food isn't a normal diet for my son, but sometimes as a 'treat' or if we are rushed, it will be allowed. The drive thru line today was long, so my wife went inside to pick out a meal. After almost half an hour, she came back with 2 burgers, a chili, and a kids burger and fries. Read more

America vs Globalism

Thoughts and Politics

It really is awe inspiring to examine North America's defensive position and ponder how in the world could a foreign nation ever invade and attack the United States, or even Canada or Mexico for that matter. These three nations, together encompass the worlds best defended trinity of nations. And while indeed, Canada, Mexico and the United States do indeed have their differences - especially lately with trade tariff's being imposed - they are still for all intents and purposes, allies. Tactical Fox: The Next Level of Fox Hunt

I have been working on a new type of HAM Radio game. My firends and I used to play something like this, up in Toronto in the mid 2000's when we were messing around. This is like a fox hunt, but the fox doesn't transmitt. Instead, the chase vehicles - or hunters, must transmit. The fox has to complete their objectives and the chase vehicles must solve the code. February 2025 Adventure

Adventures

February is an unusual time to go on an adventure for many people, unless they are headed to the beach or a cruise. Or perhaps they are into skiing. But in our case, we decided a cozy get away in a nice log cabin in the mountains was in order. So off to New Hampshire we went. But that is an 8 hour trip, so we ended up stopping halfway. First we scoped out Amsterdam, NY. Amsterdam was an interesting town. Not sure if it was just luck, or the local area we attempted to find food in. But the first place had what appeared to be inmates in orange jumpsuits walking around the parking lot freely and randomly. The second place had a cashier who was asleep at the counter with a bottle of booze in her hand. But at least that place had some decent grub. Read more
