Spaulding Fibre was a plant in Tonawanda, NY which produced a type of unique type of 'bakelite' material. The plant was heavily contaminated with asbestos as you will see in the photos.
This pump seemed to pump some sort of fibre material. Lots of it splattered. This is possibly asbestos.
This poor bench... I wonder who worked here, and what they did.
These appeared to be mixing basins of some sort.
A rather dark photo, showing some of the factory layout. I still like it regardless of the darkness.
Some large boiler unit.
I believe these pits were above the basins shown above.
Not much to say here... Just a creepy corridor
An interesting setup. I imagine this was some sort of chemical reaction network? Or a chiller of some sort.
A large Roller Press. I believe I saw this piece of machinery last year sitting outside down behind "Smoke on the Water" in downtown City of Tonawanda. I do hope someone salvaged it.
Some large exhaust vents. Likely lined with asbestos.
Just a cool artsy shot....
An overview of sorts.
